Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

OpenStreetProblem ("OSP", "we", "us") collects the minimum data needed to operate the platform:

  • Account data — name, email, and profile photo from your Google sign-in.
  • Location data — approximate GPS coordinates when you report an issue or browse the map. We never track you in the background.
  • User-generated content — issue reports, photos, comments, and votes you submit.
  • Device & usage data — browser type, screen size, and anonymous analytics to improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Display civic issues on the public map and feed.
  • Associate reports and contributions with your profile.
  • Moderate content for safety (automated and manual review).
  • Send service-related notifications (if you opt in).
  • Generate anonymised, aggregate statistics about civic issues.

3. Photo & Image Handling

All photos uploaded to OSP are processed through our moderation pipeline. We automatically strip EXIF metadata (GPS, camera info, timestamps) from every image before it is stored or displayed, protecting your privacy. Images are scanned for inappropriate content using automated safety tools.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure infrastructure in the EU (Germany West Central region). We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth — for authentication.
  • Microsoft Azure — for hosting, database, and content safety.
  • Cloudflare — for DNS, CDN, and DDoS protection.

We do not sell your data to third parties.

6. Your Rights

You may:

  • Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Update or correct your profile information at any time.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@openstreetproblem.com.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication sessions. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children

OSP is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform. Continued use of OSP after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
