1. Acceptance

By accessing or using OpenStreetProblem ("OSP", "the platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. The Platform

OSP is an open, community-driven platform for reporting, tracking, and discussing real-world civic issues such as potholes, broken streetlights, and other public infrastructure problems. OSP is not affiliated with any government entity.

3. User Accounts

  • You must sign in with a valid Google account to contribute.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use OSP.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. User-Generated Content

When you submit content (reports, photos, comments, votes) to OSP:

  • You grant OSP a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute your content in connection with the platform.
  • You retain ownership of your original content, but acknowledge that civic issue data contributed to OSP is intended to be publicly visible.
  • You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.

5. Content Moderation

All content is subject to our moderation policies. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

  • Review, flag, or remove any content that violates these terms.
  • Remove content that is offensive, misleading, spam, or unrelated to civic issues.
  • Use automated tools (including AI-based content safety systems) to screen uploads.
  • Restrict or ban users who repeatedly violate our guidelines.

6. Image Policy

All images uploaded to OSP are subject to our review and moderation. By uploading images you acknowledge that:

  • Images may be processed, resized, and stripped of metadata.
  • Images depicting civic issues become part of the public record on OSP.
  • We may remove images at our discretion without prior notice.
  • You must not upload images containing identifiable individuals without their consent.
  • You must not upload copyrighted material you do not have rights to.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or duplicate reports.
  • Harass, abuse, or threaten other users.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform or its systems.
  • Use the platform for any illegal purpose.
  • Scrape or bulk-download data without written permission.
  • Manipulate votes, stats, or gamification features.

8. Intellectual Property

The OSP platform, its design, code, and branding are the property of the OSP project. The platform is built as an open framework; however, all rights not explicitly granted are reserved.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

OSP is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

  • The platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • Reports will result in any government action.
  • Information on the platform is accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OSP and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of OSP after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
